Splattercat Plays a Bit of FTL

Post by Splattercat »

Hello everyone, my name is Splattercat and I'm a newcomer to the LP genre. I have completed a short series on FTL (Short mostly because I am absolutely rubbish at the game) which I hope you'll join me in watching. Feel free to offer any tips, critiques, or strategies on both the game and the video itself. I do want to get better at this and accept all criticisms.

Thanks for taking the time to watch! :D

Love the name Splatterdale. It's just perfect. Wish i though of it... :?

A couple of comments, in kinda random order:

- AI ships can repair themeselves slowly.
- Cloaking prevents weapons from acquiring their target. Basically they dont recycle while the opponet is cloaked.
- Don't remove the pilot from their station, the ship stops (evasion 0%) and the FTL drive cannot recharge.
- The Artemis is best used to destroy enemy shields. That way your lasers can do full damage.
- Before you can knock out weapons, you sometimes must down shields first, or even engines/helm to reduce enemy defense (shields and evasion). If you go straight for their guns and fail to do damage, switch targets to either shields or engines/helm whichever is preventing you from scoring hits. Usually both.
- Depower the medbay. It frees up 1 power for use elsewhere. You only need the medbay for healing or dealing with intruders, so most of the time you can get away with 'stealing' that power
- There is a risky way to deal with solar flares. If you vent the whole ship minus the rooms that are manned there will be fewer places where fires can burn. The risk is that if your life support or door control get hit, you could have a hard time repairing damage. Try to send one person to start repairs then replace them before they suffocate and use the medbay for healing. As long as one person is allways there, repair progress will not be lost.
- Solar flares are also somewhat limited if you have strong shields. You still get fires, but fewer of them.

Pretty nice Lets Play. Have fun and bring us part 2.

Thanks for watching Mantis! Additionally thank you for taking the time to post some advice for my future plays of FTL. I'm forced to admit that its a game that I enjoy, but am simply terrible at XD.

As requested, here is the second video. I haven't had the opportunity to link them all together as of yet, been busy making rather than editing.

"molests face"- i love your quips. :D

You should know that you can depower systems (but not subsytems since they dont use any) so you could easily borrow power from engines or medbay if you need an extra bar for weapons.
