Random Defeat?

i was doing well....had max shields and was regularly destroying anything in my path while taking no hull damage.


then i jump onto the next location and all my power is 0....and my oxygen is missing. theres no damage to the ship whatsoever. all my guys asphyxiated and i lost....is this some weird scenario? or does the program just get mad and cheat?

You probably found an ion storm. It's one of the three environmental hazards, the other two being suns and asteroid fields. It halves the reactor power of your ship (as well as the enemy's), so you will find some of your systems offline or underpowered when you arrive at the beacon. Ion storms occur only at nebula beacons.

would that account for a complete lack of oxygen ON arrival?

i made sure the one system that was up was my Oxy....all the rooms were red and no oxygen returned even tho it was upgraded.

That's pretty weird, I too cannot figure out what just happened to that.

The game probably decided you've had a good enough run and slapped you in the face

You probably left some door open or something was damaged or something around those lines.


Also, remember that oxygen needs time to regerate. It's not instant.

When jumping into an Ion storm it seems that is almost random which rooms/system gets de-powered.

Did you make sure to power the oxygen? Not just that it was repaired but also powered by removing power from some other room and adding it to the oxygen room?.

Did you hear a hissing sound, like escaping gas? That would indicate that you where loosing air and oxygen either through an hull breach or an open door. Of course that would only matter if all internal doors were open.

As was already said, the only ways you can "randomly" lack oxygen are:
-You were in an ionstorm and oxygen got depowered for a long time.
-You were in an event where the enemy depowered your oxygen.
-You had 1 or more hull breaches
-You opened all the doors
-Darth Vader boarded you and force choked everyone on your ship
