Slug ships are insane
Each one I meat has 3 shields and absurd weaponry, has anyone actually ever made it through 2 slug nebula in a row? I also noticed their FTL charges in 7 seconds and have a 50% evade.

Must have had some bad luck then. They are nasty when they cripple your ship but they're not invincible. In fact they sometimes have critical systems right next to each other.

*shrug* Would you rather fight drones with much higher evasion, four shield points, 3-4 weapons and a beam drone or two?
Slug ships aren't that ugly, and their crews tend to be squishy. It's just a good idea to have extra power unless you have Long Range Scanners (storms!), and an extra point in oxygen (giving you the 'squeeze extra power') so you don't asphyxiate during that particular encounter.

I have never noticed that the Slug ships would be worse than any other. The only thing is their common ambush ability which causes some problems.

OP, I hear you. For me, enemy Slug ships seem to have a higher-than-average incidence of Glaive Beams. Combined with some of their ambush effects (no oxygen, no doors, your choice of shields/weapons/oxygen, etc.) they can be pretty brutal. The only time I've ever seen a non-boss ship with doors 3, it was a Slug prince.
But it's not all bad. They almost never carry significant missile weapons. If you enter a nebula with high shields, a good shield recharge rate, and a sufficient power core, you'll probably be ok. You might consider overloading your power core temporarily, to account for ion storms. As people have pointed out, slug ships are relatively weak to boarding parties. And interceptors can be killed via oxygen, which presents a better reward. Once you know how to kill them, you'll see that they're not that bad.

Disregarding context, this remains true.hybridfive wrote:Once you know how to kill them, you'll see that they're not that bad.
