It was a long game of FTL; after surviving many hard fought battles & adverse luck events I reached Sector 8 in a pretty good state. Victory was likely.
1st thing I do in every fight is tap space to pause.
Upon engaging the boss I attempted this as usual, but a split-second before I pressed space - Avast! popped up a focus stealing notification dialogue "To complete the recent update you machine needs to be restarted. (Reboot/Postpone)"
This was an update I'd postponed from several hours before, and yes, you've guessed it..... on this dialogue "reboot" is the default input action, thus my pressing of space immediately closed the dialogue and initiated a system shutdown.
Half a second later FTL had closed itself; all progress of my marathon game lost.
Now there's no denying this is a really bad design by Avast!
However, I feel FTL should resist system shutdown requests when it isn't in a position to perform an automatic save & exit.
When progress/work will be lost it is convention for applications to prevent system shutdown requests without first prompting the user - even simple applications like Notepad do this.
