[HOW TO] Beat the final boss (With variants!)

Yes, people from time to time get to the final boss, but then get a bit.. Confused..

'What do i do? How do i do it? Ohgodohgodohgod..'
'This ship lo- HOLY MOLY!'

Before we begin, i would like to point out something.
WELL DONE ON GETTING TO THE FINAL FRONTIER. BE HAPPY. (FOR THE NORMAL MODE PEOPLE)
If you have gotten to the final battle on normal mode, you would notice that on the last few sectors, ships are reasonably better equipped, if you managed to put a fight against these guys (They have lvl 4 shields, maybe some drones...) then you will stand a chance in the final battle.

However, if you are on EASY, well, you need to keep a very sharp eye out for these tips, they help, A LOT.

METHOD 1. THE 'SPAMMY MISSILE METHOD'
Yes, this is an actual method, and you do literally SPAM missiles, everywhere.
REQUIREMENTS:
2 MISSILE LAUNCHERS (Or pegasus, the one i used to beat the boss with.)
SOMETHING POWERFUL TO SUPPLEMENT THE MISSILES (Beam weapons, anything that can do damage.)
A CREW WHICH ISN'T AWFUL (Because, people are going to board your ship, and you need to protect ya self!)
MISSILES, LOTS OF THEM

THIS METHOD IS COMPATIBLE WITH NEARLY EVERY SHIP, IT'S QUITE USEFUL.

This method, is very effective on easy, you just click spam shields until they get to a satisfactory level, then, POW POW POW!!

METHOD 2. THE RETRO METHOD

If you don't like that method, there is THE RETRO METHOD.
This does work, and it's effective, but i don't know how much.

This uses the usefulness of burst lazers, and missiles. It's like the SPAMMY MISSILE METHOD, except you can do it both ways. Don't know what i mean? Here, let me explain.

THE SPAMMY MISSILE METHOD spams missiles, which is awesome, however..
THE RETRO METHOD utilizes burst lazer spamming instead, and then letting a weapon of choice give way and smash the enemy hull, awesome, right?
This method is quite useful, especially on the second and maybe third stages, as the defence drone makes it difficult for missiles to smash.

REQUIREMENTS
MORE THAN ONE BURST LAZER.
A WEAPON OF CHOICE (Beam weapons are recommended.)
CREW WHICH STILL DON'T SUCK.
I'll put up more later, at the moment, this thread is incomplete, I'll test out more methods.
Remember: You can never have enough lasers. Or beams. Or missiles. Or Ions. Or bombs.

You left out the most useful ones: boarding and bombs.

As i said before, this is a WIP, and not everything is done yet. But i will take those in account (I never used those Strategies before. Sounds interesting. :D )

Um, that post isn't much more than "fire lots of weapons at it if you want to destroy it". This really isn't useful at all. It doesn't tell you anything that anyone wouldn't try to do in any case.

plus the anti-bio beam.

i first beat the flagship with slug cruiser A with bio-beam, breach bomb II, hull laser I and burst laser II, 4 shield, cloak etc. but no teleporter.

boarding strategy (for me) goes like this:
1. port 2 crew into boss missile and annihilate it.
2. port 2 crew into boss ion and annihilate it
3. port 2 crew into boss beam weapon and annihilate.
4. pepper the ship with shots, hopefully get a few breaches (breach bomb II is awsum!!)
5. shift crew into enemy 2-man room (or 4-man if you have a 4-man tele)
6. gradually kill the crew but be sure to keep the guy in the boss laser alive (weapon room 2nd from the left)
7. destroy the ship once
8. at phase 2, port crew into shields and wait for it to be destroyed.
9. fire everything and utilise the hull weapon damage bonus
10. at phase 3, destroy the zoltan shield, port crew in shield, destroy the shields, kill it with fire, win! ;)

this strategy can be adapted for the bio beam but be sure you can destroy his drones in phase 2 or have a breach bomb.

I surprised myself with this build. I didn't think the weapons were strong enough for the flagship, but it was actually quite easy...

Engi ship A

System upgrades:
7 in shields
6 in engines
5 in weapons
5 in drones
2 in O2
2 in med
2 in teleporter
3 in doors
2 in sensors
2 in helm

Weapons:
Ion Blast II
Ion Bomb
Heavy Laser I

Drones:
Anti-Ship I
Defense I
Hull Repair

Mods:
Engi med thingy
+10% scrap thingy
Drone recovery arm

Strategy:
Just pulled its teeth with boarding parties, ioned shields/weapons/drones, and plinked away with the heavy laser and anti-ship drone. High dodge, a defense drone, and 3 shields kept me safe, and what damage it manged to do I could fix right up with the hull repair drone.

The drone recover arm is a godsend; really saves on repairs when combined with a repair drone...
