I think this would be a great addition. What I really enjoy in FTL is growing up and facing eventually stronger enemies, random events and places, travelling... Not killing an enormous spaceship. I don't know if someome will agree with this, but I think it would be great.

I agree, i have played the game extensively and am always a bit sad that you have to finish and start again every few hours
