I think it would be cool if the added
-escape pods to save crew for future missions
-be able to keep ships that survive maybe add 10 hull and keep the scrap
-be able to re use crew members and ships that survive
-maybe two new missions like a prisoner escort, save a space station from an asteroid belt
-a hard difficulty
-a free roam to just jump from random belt to the next with dangerous random events
-maybe add a 2 player coop mode
I would even pay for dlc like this
any thoughts ?

Hard mode? Have you even played the game? Easy is "You're dead" and normal is "You're more dead"

Well I only say that to balance out being able to replay ships, because as you get better the game should progress as well.
For coop you could both be working towards the same goals but not tied together. You could each freely roam the sectors and help each other out when you come under fire or run out of fuel. it would be cool to see a battle of ships that was two on two as well. Maybe offer more reward and more danger if you move together. also you could pick ships to complement each other. I know the ftl jumps would be weird but if you both had to ready up to jump or wait I think it would be fun

-droid race that can doesn't need oxygen and maybe can keep completely damaged systems running at minimal capacity(or even just allow to control repair, boarding, and anti personnel droids)
-saboteur race that can cloak on enemy ships and plant bombs to destroy subsystems maybe give them less health
maybe a medic skill that would allow partial healing out of the med bay or on enemy ships
and ideas for keeping the ship maybe play lan vs your friends like your end game ship vs mine
