I can't search the Forum for Fire Beam???

Seriously???

is what it says when I do. I am at a store in game, and wanted to see what people thought about it before I bought it... that is messed up.

The fire beam is an absolutely awesome weapon IF you have the support of other weapons able to take down the enemy shield. It has a high chance of setting fire on every tile it hits, and its beam is, as far as I know, the lengthiest among all the beam weapons, so you may set fire on a lot of rooms in a single volley. Plus, if you have sensor 2 there is nothing more pleasant than watch the entire enemy ship burn while the crew desperately tries to prevent the inevitable. Fire beam is a really good weapon if you are looking for a weapon-oriented run (as opposed to boarding/drone oriented). Just make sure you pair it up with good weapons capable of taking down the enemy shield.

Don't forget that enemy ships have no airlock :)
