I absolutely love the game, but would like to spend more time in this world each session.
It would be amazing if the developers would make an open world, with no pursuing fleet and a large spiderweb of star systems to visit. You could go mine craft style and make it hostable and multiplayer where players could encounter each other if they went to the same system and fight/trade.
A ship configurater would be awesome too, where we can fit our own rooms into the outline of the ship and choose the starting equip.

Yes, please, regarding open world. I loved Escape Velocity on the Mac and that structure would work wonderfully with this game.

Could this be done with the mod tools? If it can, I see a possible colab project in the community's future. Just imagine that, randomly generated galaxy, hundreds of scripted events, maybe even new ships...

If you have all systems upgraded plus all crew perfect weapon combo it'd get boring quick so just adding more sectors wouldnt work

Add more sectors, more weapons, more bosses.
Split the additional sectors up into hexes and call them sector clusters.
