Cloaking & pilotless evasion

Post by mqstout »

Either I've had terribly bad luck, or I've noticed that cloaking doesn't count towards evasion when you don't have a pilot?

I was in phase 1 of the rebel boss (and having some difficulties), but I had no pilot was busy repairing and I had zero evasion. I noticed the boss fire its volley of missiles and immediately hit my cloak button to try to evade them. The evade display went up to 60%, but every missile (and couple laser blasts that came around the same time) hit me.

(A) Should cloaking's evasion be disabled when you have no pilot like all other evasion?
(A-1) Reduced by a portion during auto pilot? [I did not have auto pilot.]
(B) If not, is there a display bug that makes it display 60% even when it's not?
(C) Or, maybe I just had some really bum luck?

I noticed the same thing with the Basilisk (Mantis B ship) -- both my crew were on the enemy ship, but I figured I could still use the cloak to dodge incoming shots. It didn't seem to work. Of course, I might have gotten unlucky -- 60% evasion isn't foolproof -- but it was still pretty disappointing results.

Yeah, not having a pilot or having no engines prevents all evasion, including the cloak. What I'm not sure of is whether or not having 1/4 evasion from autopilot gives you 1/4 of your normal evasion +60% cloak or 15% cloak from quartering that as well.

If what Toast says is indeed true (needs testing), this counts as a graphical bug, then, that cloaking automatically adds 60% to the displayed evasion rate.

Sorry to bump, but I'd like to try to make sure the devs see this.

I just ran a couple dozen tests with some brand-new Nessarios and it's true. Get into battle, move your pilot out of room and wait for a shot against you. Cloak, and it always hits. However, the evasion field always says 60%+ while the cloak is enabled.
