Just beat the game on easy, using anti ship drones and a ton of crew kill weapons. My main strat though was to upgrade my engines first. I was told and it seams that you can make more jumps per sector with higher level engines is this true?
If so it seams that upgrading weapons first is a no brainer as it gives you more time per sector to gather resources.
Thoughts?

Engines does not give you more time in sector. Not sure who propagated this lie.

Yeah, it's the second time someone mentions this. Maybe a YouTube review or Let's Play got it wrong?

Engines make your FTL charge faster. Modding your files makes Fleet pursuit slower. Getting more fuel gives you more jumps.

^ and that's pretty much all you really need to know about making more jumps.

And they add dodge, I wouldnt even bother with more than 3 points in them otherwise.
But you know what, the idea of slowing the rebels pursuit according to engine power is a nice one.

Perhaps "delaying" the initial rebel pursuit appearance?xdiesp wrote:And they add dodge, I wouldnt even bother with more than 3 points in them otherwise.

For each level of engine, you "delay" the rebel pursuit appearance by 1 normal jump (or 0.5 normal jump). The rebel pursuit gain per jump is still the same so its easier for player to "judge" the speed.

Sounds the same as Nebula then, I could imagine it would change the game balance in your favor pretty drasticaly when you had vast amounts of both.UberFubarius wrote:Perhaps "delaying" the initial rebel pursuit appearance?xdiesp wrote:And they add dodge, I wouldnt even bother with more than 3 points in them otherwise.

It makes just as much sense as giving you evasion. I imagine if they did both the price would go up though.stinglock wrote:Sounds the same as Nebula then, I could imagine it would change the game balance in your favor pretty drasticaly when you had vast amounts of both.UberFubarius wrote:Perhaps "delaying" the initial rebel pursuit appearance?xdiesp wrote:And they add dodge, I wouldnt even bother with more than 3 points in them otherwise.
