Ship with 5 SHIELDS????

Ship with 5 SHIELDS????

I was playing with the Rock cruiser the other day and came across this ship.

WTF?????

I have never seen a ship with 5 shields before, and i am curious if anybody else has had the same experience?
I had just come from the secret sector, so maybe that had something to do with it...

(btw sorry for the large picture size :D )

Well as you can see, i had no missiles and no fuel to get away, so I was kinda screwed.

Hopefully I don't run into many more of those for a while :?

I ran into a mantis ship with a level 5 medbay once. I say level 5 because I did 4 Ion damage to the thing and it kept healing somehow...

Needless to say that boarding action wasn't successful.

Since it seems like enemy syystems can get upgraded to any level, the AI ships are very dangerous at high levels, since they can spend on weapons, shields and evasion what would otherwise be invested in oxygen and medbay.

Haha, the worst ship i ran into was one that had 2 Mark II burst lasers and a Mark 3 burst laser as well.
They also somehow had enough power to have 4 shields and at least 50% evasion.

Screw u AI ships. :x

I lose to the Rebel fighters in the Last Stand WAY more than the boss. The boss is actually pretty easy with preset armaments. I'll absolutely murder the first form, then I'll jump away, get into a fight with a tiny escort ship and get slaughtered.

Try 2 Burst 2s, 2 Ion Bombs, and 2 Anti-Ship drones. Only level-3 shields (and who-knows-what for engines), but with an offense like that I didn't stand a chance anyway -- certainly not in the Fed Cruiser since I couldn't get a cloaking system.

The flagship has some gimmicks, but its offense is really pretty weak.
