I really like FTL but there is one thing, that has been bugging me.
You can use the number keys to select a weapon and fire. In dialogs, you can use those same keys to select a dialog option. I have to say, I'm a pretty big fan of UI's that let you control most things with keyboards pretty quick. But the problem with the dialogs and weapons is, that I often want to select a weapon during a fight, but exactly before I press the button a dialog shows up and instead of selecting a weapon, you chose a dialog option...
This can be really frustrating. In one game, I was permanently understocked with my crew. And I blasted 3 opportunities when slave traders surrender to let a new crew member on board.
My workarounds to this problems were either to pause the game when selecting a weapon or selecting a weapon with the mouse. Before I noticed this probloem, I could easily handle most fights (especially in the first few sectors) without having to pause. But now this behavior really bugs me. The flow of the game gets interrupted to much (for me), if I have to pause for every shot I do. Before, I ususally selected the weapon before it was filled up and assigned a target, now I always pause, target, unpause...
It is a very small problem in an otherwise very great game (and also, I can live without this beeing fixed, but if there was a solution, for example to disable the number keys for dialog, i would be pretty happy).

Hi tvg. In the Options there's an option to either completely disable number keys for dialogs or add a small delay before they become active (the latter is only available in 1.02 if you're not using Steam and haven't updated you'll have to go re-download FTL to update). Either of one of those will help your problem

Re: Number keys, weapons and dialogs
I recommend to disable keyboard dialog shortcuts in the options. You don't need fast clicking there.
(imho it's bad design - to allocate dialog shortcuts, which may appear at any time and are not reversible to keys that are used elsewhere during fight. They should have own keys, like F1, F2, F3)

Re: Number keys, weapons and dialogs
Hey, thats great
I must have overlooked that (or maybe I didn't notice because I only opened the options when I first started the game to enable fullscreen mode and didn't know what those options were about). Thanks very much for the fast response. This will make my space adventures even more fun
