FTL should have a New Exploration Mode

So we can travel to each star slowly without getting hounded by bloody rebel ships, though that would mean a lot more script to keep the events interesting. Unlimited rounds and scaling difficulty until defeated (if you guys have better idea please state it here).

EDIT: Before I forget,a more satisfying ending too. There's way more lines in any single random events then the 'CONGRATULATIONS! YOU TOOK DOWN REBELS!' message. =.="

Time limit took me by surprise too. I hope the devs realize that successful, mainstream roguelikes like this and isaac can eschew the genre's most trite tropes to achieve more.

I didn't like the time limit as well either, because I'm used to being able to go through early levels of games building up my crew until it gets easy enough to win the game.

But I actually really like the approach they took with this game. In the games where you don't have a time limit, it usually just becomes a kind of robotic procedure to take out easy bad guys again and again until you're satisfied that there will be no challenge with bad guys the next step up.

This game has a real challenge to it, and I like that. EVERY decision counts. That's the way a game should be. There is no avoiding risks until you're comfortable with them, you HAVE to take risks. And that's brilliant.

Is it theoretically possible yet to have a mod which slows the rebel fleet to a crawl.. And call it exploration mode? :p

There's already a mod for this, although granted it's a bit hard to find so here you go!

There's an .ftl version as well, for use with the mod manager, but I can't track that down yet. We really need to get the mods sorted out. XD

Basically it's all about the rise of the Federation and rather than the Rebel fleet catching up, it's the Federation expanding. Instead of combat it triggers trading and other useful things. It goes quite a bit deeper than that however so I suggest taking a look, I'm gonna play it once I beat the game normally.

Thanks Disc10, really useful! I hope the mod works, I hope to find the .ftl one too.
