Nod32 False Positive

Post by pixelat3d »

Hey I activated the game on steam and started the download and I was greated with a threat warning from nod32 v5.0.95.0 - Virus DB signature: 7478. I've attached a screenshot of the popup. Orr it didn't attach, so i uploaded it here:

Note:
This did not happen with the standalone download, only the version delivered by steam. I downloaded the game via direct download from the humble page, and replaced the files inside steamapps/FTL Faster Than Light with the contents of that zip file and it seems to have stopped warning me.

Thanks for the heads up. It would be because Steam has a built in wrapper for their DRM on their version, so the binaries are slightly different. Then whatever heuristic NOD32 uses to detect a possible virus somehow returns positive when it's a combo of the Steam wrapper + our code and we're just unlucky. Glad you found a work around. We've contacted NOD32 but have yet to hear back.

This is also a problem with ESETS. Any word on whether this is resolved in either ESETS or Nod32?

ESET is the name of the company that makes Nod32, rather than a separate anti-virus
