Without seeing the file it's difficult to say what might be going wrong. Couple of things to try though, make sure that you are compressing as a zip file and not using 7z.
You need to compress the data folder and img folder into one file and not "Mod Name" folder with the data and img folders as subdirectories.
Also, you can validate the file with Slipstream and that might help point you in the right direction.
