Lost ALL progress on iPad

So I was just playing some FTL in the car on a long trip, when I arrived home the game launched as if it were the first time it was opened. The introductory message, only the Kestral Cruser type-A available, none of my unlocked ships or achievements were there.
I love playing FTL and it’s a shame I lost my progress.

Which iPad version is this? This is the first report I've seen of this and I'd like as much info as possible if you can.

I use an IPad Air 2 and I am using IOS 11.4.1 (I’m too lazy to update it)
