i keep getting a permission denied error when running the script how do i install the game.

What file have you downloaded, what are you trying to do with that file? Are you double-clicking it, do you use some command line, if yes which one?
I run the game without problem on Kunbuntu 12.04.1 LTS, so I'm quite sure we can make it work on your machine (what video card do you have, which drivers do you use by the way?).
