I'm of that camp that holographic technology got so perfect that people were put off by it so they deliberately added in the bad resolution lines and stuff to let people know it's a hologram. Same with radio transmissions. The static sounds and voice distortion are deliberately added in so people know they're being contacted via radio. Uncanny valley is a strange thing; I'm put off heavily by HDTV's even though the movement is better.

Trenchcoat's hologram flickered from blue to a deep purple as he analysed the "weapon."
"Eeeh, OK" he said "It's a deal."
A nearby drone flickered to life and carried the device off into the ship. "The Scarab is now yours. I'll just be taking this thing far away; maybe it'll keep the Rebels off your back as well" Trenchcoat explained.

Lux headed back to the Pelican with the medical supplies. The cargo hauler was just about done with loading. It took off from the Soprano and headed into formation with the Mutare and the Scarab once they were ready.

"This is Captain Bren of the Scarab, ready to join the fleet" he said looking over the railcannon, whoeever made this made it so it could pierce not only shielding but hulls, meaning he was now a deadly foe, one shot in the right spot and a ship could go out in one go

"Alright we all set, Gorlag stocked my ship up with snacks, meds, and even some videos so we won't be bored" he said chuckling

Once they were at a good distance away, Jake heard Brens' transmission.

"As Fleet Commander I am glad to welcome the Scarab into the fleet!" Jake said, smiling. "By the way, it'd be cool if our fleet as a whole had a name. Or rather, not a fleet, but an organization. We need an official organization name. We're not the United Federation, even though we work with them. We're certainly not the Rebel Alliance, the Engi Brigade, or the Zoltan Confederacy. We need our own personal name, it'd be so cool!"

"You only think it's cool because you'd get to say 'This is Captain Jake Collins, commander of the insert-fancy-name-here.'" Sarah muttered with a chuckle.

I would like to open this up to new players, in a little bit. Perhaps we could have a system where players jump in as their own characters/ships we encounter. This way, we could expand a lot! More players = more subplots = more adventure!

The system I was considering was this: players would submit a character at any time in advance. I would accept,
and then at the next beacon we encounter their character, who would join in as a new ship/captain/refugee/WHATEVER. What do you guys (players and non players alike) think of this system? Should we implement it?

"Why not just give ourselves a cool fleet name after an animal or something?" Lux suggested "Like I dunno... Condor Fleet? Task Force Razor Talons?"
"I'd thought you'd go with Guardians of the Federation" Eden remarked.
"Nah, that's what Captain Awesome's fleet is called when he temporarily was promoted to Admiral in one of the movies" Lux said "It was too cheesy."

As the Pelican jumped away, Trenchcoat examined the "weapon" more closely. He gave an amused chuckle before he too jumped to a different beacon. "Can't say I didn't warn them about carrying such dangerous hardware... well, not my problem if they're caught with the real thing..."

I'm down. That could be fun.

Kyrie was relieved when the merchant took the fake without problems. I wonder why he even wanted it. Just then Jake suggested the fleet have a name. "What about something with more depth. Like, some ancient religious word only a few people know the meaning of. Or we could just make something up."

"The Kurmaran Fleet" Bren said, "What do you guys think, maybe something from ancient Zoltan or Slug or Rock?" he asked

Attention all players and non-players!


From now on, this RP is open to new characters. Feel free to submit a character at any time from this point on!


Here's how it will work:
A non player will submit a character ahead of time.

If I accept that character, they can join into the RP at the next jump beacon.

Obviously, you can't just appear on a ship at random. Perhaps we found your wrecked ship floating in space? Perhaps you were being hunted by Rebels and sought asylum within the fleet? Make your "welcome event" whatever you desire!

When joining the RP, please bear in mind that you need time to post somewhat regularly. If you don't have the time due to other activities, you may not want to join.

3. Gender (If applicable)
4. Age (No age limitation from this point onward!)
5. Topic Of Study (Engineering, Weapons, Medical)
