[Suggestion] Boarder Suppression System

Postby Warbird » Mon May 07, 2012 9:28 pm

We have ways to counteract most means of attacks, but I have yet to see any to counter people teleporting onto the ship apart from sending your own units against them. That's all good and well, but suppose you're fighting a Rockman ship and they beam aboard your ship in numbers equal to your own. You've already lost due to their higher health. Why not have an automated defense subsystem that can serve to deter or even the odds?

Thoughts?

Seems like a decent idea. In the latest video one of the automated ships appeared to have a turret defense system so perhaps you could install something similar. Obviously the cost of it would have to be balanced well so as not to have too many turrets avaiable too cheaply but for them to be cheap enough/have enough health so as not to be destroyed too easily by enemy fire to render them useless.

That would be the anti-personel droids though wouldn't it?

What I'm thinking of would include them, yes. They don't have to be the only method of handling them though. See my upcoming topic for additional means of handling them and how to board ships.

Doors subsystem upgrade: LASER DOORS. Step through, just see what happens. Wouldn't nullify the transporter entirely but it would limit its effectiveness.

This may seem a little extreme, but you could limit the areas of your ship that have oxygen and have the nanobot med-bay. They may have higher base than you, but the gain/loss of health is against them.

I wonder... If the enemy is in your teleport bay, can you use a charge to send them back to their ship? :D

Better yet, if they're in your teleport room, you should be able to beam them into space. No reason that you should have to pick somewhere on the enemy ship to send them.

how about pressure suits? You could wear them into battle, turn off the life support systems and open the doors. More power to other systems and a powerful border deterrent. Obvious downsides would include moving/attacking slower from the bulky suit, plus chances for the suits to rip and expose crew members to some of the vacuum that others are fighting in.
