Quintet silently observed them in the cafeteria while talking over history and previous scandals and catching up with every A.I. he could find that he knew. However, a few had been busy or simply didn't care for his plans. He just quickly moved on rather than try to convince them, a strange sort of silent respect. Most joined in and helped him plot some things out, and by the end, he had a few drop spots to visit and allies to call. However, a mysterious message was left in his inbox by the time he was done by someone he had just contacted. He nearly filed it off before stopping to read it, slightly mystified.

"When rain meets rays of light, from hazy skylines.."

He quickly filed it off and stopped.

I do random stuff and surf on the fourms. That's about it.

"Let's see what I can fabricate..." Tabitha mused, checking the replicator. A grey slop poured out of one pipe and a green cube splatted out of the other. She tasted both and retched. "Definitely going to need seasoning on this" she said, throwing small chunks of both items into the cooking pots. The machines also dispensed out salt and pepper and small packets of some sort of tomato-based sauce.
"What I'd give for some proper ingredients..." she scoffed before remembering something. "Arkangel... that Lanius could help me out with acquiring the good stuff... why didn't I think of it sooner?"

Quintet scanned the message hundreds of times over. Nothing was revealed. It was exactly what he'd never thought he'd get, but now that he had it, he had no idea what to do with it. He stopped trying to process it and simply put his focus onto finishing his contact list. He contacted one more A.I. before he had no-one else to get to, and the conversation had brief. He simply replied saying that he could help if needed. He contacted his crew.

"So I'm done finding every A.I. There are a few living things that I need to contact, but then I can help you out with your replicator situation."
He quickly shut the communications down and sent every A.I. he had just gotten in touch with a request for live chat. Most of them accepted.

"So. It's been a while, and I think we should start things off with simple regards. This is your first assignment, if I may."
He ended the conversation and sent them all a list of names and the words "One for each of you."
There was no hesitation or reply. The conversations they had together were always brief from advanced combat training. The message explained everything to the people he had sent it to, but any normal group of beings would have no idea what this meant. He quickly turned the communications back on and continued.

"Right! That's that. Now, let me power up a drone."
He did as he said and wheeled the repair drone into the cafeteria, nudged Tabitha out of the way, and began to dispense some of the food into a bowl and began to stir it around, grabbing some other bowls and filling them with 2 other combinations of sustenance, stirring them around and heating them in a strangely complicated manner.

Tabitha sighed in annoyance at how the AI had just shoved the chef away from her stove. Especially since she was in the middle of taste-testing.
"You know Captain, solving a replicator situation involves a lot more than just using the replicator and making something" she said angrily, hands on her hips "You're doing what I was currently doing; trying to find a workaround with the tools provided."
Also, basic replicator food doesn't dip into the ship's scrap supply, she thought to herself.

I'm back early!

Mm.. is that food I smell? Targon sighed with bliss. It smells amazing, just like Carolyn used to ma- wait.

"CAROLYN!!!" Targon shrieked and leaped from the bed he was in, snapping a few wires in the process. "Where is she!?" He skittered to a nearby computer and checked the life signs. "In the cargo bay. They could've given her suitable quarters..." The Mantis ran to the cargo door and found it was locked.
"Quintet, really?" Targon put his insect hand to the scanner and the door swept open. "Huh?" She was gone. The only thing left was a written message on the wall, an arrow pointing to a small package and a beeping metal rod that was giving out a life signal.

I took off in my pod. Give Quintet Data's chip card, and do not disobey me. Don't worry about me, Quintet put a tracking device in my head.

Targon sighed. "Aww, she took off on me. I wanted to at least say hello." He sniffed the air again. "Oh right, food." Targon took the chip out of the package and walked to the kitchen.
"Hello!" He said cheerfully to the flustered cook and the system drone. "Quintet, here's your card," He handed it to the robot, "and Tabitha, thank you for cooking this." He took a weird-looking bowl and filled it with the soup of sorts, then sipped it. "Hmm, needs a little something..." He went to the cupboard, took out a small can of space whale and dumped it into his bowl. "Ah. Much better." He plopped onto a chair and started eating.
"So how's it been with you guys?" He asked between mouthfuls. "Is there a store at the next beacon? I need some parts and I thought I could do some trading."
I've created Type C Hulls for the enemy Mantis, Slug, Rock, and Zoltan ships, and anyone can use these for a mod.
Check out the details here.

Tabitha glared at the AI before looking to Targon who seemed to be enjoying the food, except for when the Space Whale meat was added. "You do realise that the food inside that can expired 20 years ago before it was put in there" she said "So if you feel sick or nauseous after doing that reckless move, don't come crying to me about my cooking making you throw up and burning a hole in the hull."
She sighed "Nothing has been going well so far. Chances are if we get to the next store to buy things or even just get some decent ingredients, someone's going to blow it up and have the authorities on us even more."
