Whenever I type
in the folder with data.dat in it, all it does is come up with something like this:
Code: Select all
Loading index...
Extracting...
data/rock_fight.xml
data/morethings.xml
data/evenmorethings.xml
etc.
Which is exactly what list does, I don't get it, can anyone help me?

Maybe the files are extracted somewhere else?

How would I find out if they are?

A quick search of your comp (F3) for the extracted files, or the folder "data.dat-unpacked" should reveal your missing extraction. If FTLDat says it's working and a folder isn't showing up for you... well that's odd but it should be pushing all those dumped files somewhere.

I think I'd expect the extracted contents to be here:
[FTL]/resources/data.dat-unpacked/data/
It may be that it's only GMM-using-ftldat that puts the contents there, rather than any ftldat usage. But if you just want to look inside the data, you can just install any GMM mod to put an unpacked version there.

Well they aren't there, that's the entire point of this thread, also I don't have GMM.
EDIT: I just got GMM but now my resources folder is gone sooo...
EDIT 2: Reinstalled FTL and ftldat, still doesn't work.
EDIT 3: Maybe there's another way of doing this? I'll try extracting with winrar
EDIT 4: Why did I think that would work? And why do I keep editing this post instead of making a new one?

I know what's happening but still don't know how to fix it. "ftldat unpack" does the same thing as "ftldat list".
