The Game needs a Persistant Mode

I like this game, it seems kind of addicting, the way the battles work seems fine, along with the upgrades and how the systems and crew work.

But I absolutely hate the way the sectors work, how you cant stay in each one for the long time, nor can you go back to whatever sector you want to.

In my mind, this is how the sectors should work, maybe for like a new persistent game mode:

1. Change the sector map to something more of a square layout than the linear thing it is now.

2. Have different sectors allocated to each race

3. Have different governments allies and enemies of others, and have it vary depending on what ship you start with, depends on who your allies and enemies are. Have more pirates and rebels in the friendly sectors, along with more non-combat missions. Then each enemy sector focuses more on that race's ships as enemies.

4. Be able to warp to any adjacent sector you want to, and be able to go back to any one you were in before.

5. Be able to save and reload saves at will.

Want a good reference, play the Star Trek: Star Fleet Command series

Permadeath is kinda a game feature :P

They could easily change it. You can make a mod if you want like that pretty easily.
