Multiplayer Idea

After me and a friend purchased and played this game ( extensively ),we wondered if there was a multi-player
mode .After quickly finding out there wasn't we imagined what multi-player would be like if it was implemented. Right out the bat we realized it might be too difficult or time consuming to create a MMO style where everyone could take part at the same time, and realized that a sort of 'head to head' battle would be more intense and more enjoyable.
It goes like this,
- 2 through say 10 players enter a match.
-the game play will run similarly to single player where the players will have to move through a set of areas while being chased by some sort of entity.
-This "entity " would be a time keeper, speeding up and slowing down it's chase to make sure all players will reach the "final stand" around the same time.
-Players will not see or meet each other until the "final stand", meaning individual players will play the game ( collect scrap, purchase weapons, add crew and update their weapons ) as they would in single-player.
- the 'final stand" will be an area all players in game will reach and have too battle it out ship vs ship to victory
-There will be stores at the "final stand" area, but stores will no longer sell for individual players after they are used.
-There should probably be something to prevent players from dying before they reach the "final stand"

Of course if this is implemented there would be some parts that need to be fleshed out, like the story ( reason for chasing entity and reason for having to battle at the end), but overall we think it's a cool idea.
-Also tell us your ideas or changes to this idea, it would be cool to hear it * not literally "hear"., trolls*

The main problem of multiplayer is tactical pause. What should be done with it?

-The area before the jump to the final stand can be used as sort of a buffer. There would be no events in the area and the players will have to wait until everyone in the match has reached this buffer, before the beacon to take them to the final stand appears( or is made operational).
-The entity keeping time could slowly be moving forward at all times even within a battle, and even when paused
as to ensure not a lot of time is being wasted.
-Whatever the players are currently engaging would attempt to jump away be fore the entity reaches the beacon where the battle is taking place, and if the player is still there, there hull would be damaged and they will be forcibly jumped to the next area( not beacon) thus continuing the game. this would make battling more difficult and more intense.

Again there would be a story to explain whats chasing them, why it forces them to jump ,why other ships besides the player's can survive an encounter with this entity without immediate death, and why this entity is almost non-existent at the last area ( final stand).
