Last resort option on ship destruction.

You have a ship that is getting totaled. You have a teleporter. You send some crew to the enemy ship to commandeer the ship. Kill all the crew and bid adew to your ship salvaging what you can from the wreckage before continuing on your journey.
I thought I would be able to do this so as a last resort I did just that and It would of worked but my ship blew up and the game prompted loss. If the enemy can try to take over my ship. Why can I?
By the way, love the game so far you did a amazing job.

From a story point of view, your ship is carrying vital information, and without it the federation is doomed.
From a game-play point of view, that would require tons more hours of coding and balancing and what have you.
SO EVERYBODY STOP ASKING! It's never gonna happen!

Welcome Numbers. As you can imagine that request pops up from time to time. Unfortunately it's not possible due to game engine limitations and balance issues. The game was designed to be playable with the player ships which sometimes have unique abilities or weaknesses. The enemy vessels were, i assume, tested to work only as enemies and i belive capturing them would not lead to succes in the end. I doubt they would be fun to play either.
So short story is, once you lose you ship the game is over for you, no matter how close the last battle was. I'll admit that in some cases common sense would say 'just grab their ship' but sadly it's not possible.
If you're interested in playing with other ships, check out the Mods section of the forum. There are some interesting custom cruisers there. You'll need the Mod Manager by Grognak as well to play the game with mods.
