Bug Report: Asteroid Field

When using the Zoltan cruiser setup 1 I was against another zoltan in sector 5.
We were in an asteroid field and my ship was getting utterly pounded with asteroids whereas the enemies didn't get hit once in the entire fight.
I'm talking about 2 asteroids a second hitting me, it seems that the logic for determining where the asteroids were going sent both sets at my ship instead of 1 at them and 1 at mine.
This resulted in my ship getting destroyed from full hull, level 3 shields and a full crew (8).
The boosted shield and level 3 shields were down before I even fired a single shot at them.

Other people have reported discrepancies between asteroid rates for the player and the enemy. I am interested to know if you were particularly unlucky in this case, or if you found a bug.

It was a bug.
The fight was approx 1 minute long.
During that time they took 0 hits, I took about 40+
That's not a discrepency

That's an insane amount of damage to take. It's not supposed to hit you that hard esp. since your l3 shields were down before firing a shot. I'd say it was a once in a lifetime glitch. Even if the game sent all asteroids at you, there were still too many. If you had level 3 shields you must have had engine upgrades as well so your evasion + shields should have kept you relatively safe from normal asteroid showers.
A bug/glitch like could be very hard to find and eliminate, because it doesn't seem to happen regularly.

its not a one time thing, i have a similar experience that causes asteroid fields to basically become a 5 second death sentence, im talking like not a chance to fire a weapon, shields down in half a second, ftl engines dont get halfway charged, the enemy ship gets it just as bad. and i tested it multiple times, multiple sectors, its not a one time thing
the mods im using are: strange new galaxy, advanced weapons and shields v1.2, beginning scrap advantage, diversity mod 0.3, FTL captains edition 1.094, KRS turning the tide and weaponanza v1.1

"Advanced Weapons & Shields" is likely your culprit - specifically, the fifth shield bar. From what I remember, asteroid fields base some of their calculations on shield strength, which causes Asteroid Armageddon when you boost them up beyond what vanilla allows. Also, that mod was
"discontinued" and you should probably think about getting the newer version if you're going to keep using it.
