[SUGGESTION] Disabling AI ships and weapon skill

Most of the enemy ships can be "disabled" and stripped for parts. This means killing the crew without destroying the ship. AI-driven ships can't be disabled though. They must be destroyed. How about if you take down all the systems on the AI ship it becomes disabled and can be stripped for parts?
Also using beam weapons is cool and requires skill and thinking to make those shots count. Cool downs are large, but they don't yield you enough weapon skill for your gunner. In my opinion it would be better to gain 1 skill per room hit.
