How do I throw away equipment?

When my cargo is full and I get new items I get the option to leave one of the items behind. But when I visit a store I can't buy any new equipment since my cargo is full.

Crew members you can dismiss, but you can't throw away equipment...?

There's a "Sell" tab at the top of the store window. You can sell anything but crewmembers.

Now I feel stupid...

If you pickup something as a result of an encounter but don't have any room left, the game will ask you to leave something behind. You drag and drop the same way as selling at a store but ofc you get no scrap.

Unless it is the engi nanobot augment, in wich case you get its selling value.
