cloud sync between pc and mac

I have the game running on steam on 2 pcs and a mac. The PCs sync, and all my unlocks are available on both. However, the mac doesn't seem to ever get a sync update. I've played it less there and have zero unlocks.
Is there a way to do a dropbox-type save across these platforms?
Also, between the PCs, the unlocks sync, but the individual games do not. If i'm in the middle of a game on one PC, exit & save and quit steam, then login on the other PC, all I get is a new game prompt. Is this the way it's supposed to work?
