Drone shot location control

I am not sure if this is old news but I was wondering if someone had created a mod for controlling where the drones target. I dont think anything would be effected except disrupting their inefficient shot pattern. I am new to the game. I have only played for a week, but I feel this would be the only mod I would be interested in.

To elaborate slightly, this is currently not possible with the most commonly used modding methods (XML modding).
It's certainly theoretically possible, but it's a lot more likely to be implemented if one of the developers of the game decides they like the idea and choose to implement it. However, that seems unlikely, as non-controlled targeting seems to have been implemented intentionally for game balance reasons.

The other (identical) topic has been removed.

Please no. Easy mode only, i don't like the game being any easier.
The attack drone is a general attack weapon that will damage the enemy when their shields are down and help reduce their shields. That's it. It's not a precision weapon such as a beam or bomb would be.

I understand your points of view on the matter; however, many of us have our own play style and I like to dominate and control everything I can. If they were to implement this in a patch they could counter it by giving the AI the same capabilities. The game is random enough that it will not have that big of an effect. You win some and you lose some. The game is amazing the way it is. I just think that the artificial intelligence of the drones should be adjustable or something. They randomly shoot different rooms. It would be great to maybe up their intelligence on what they shoot if you are unable to control where they shoot. So maybe an add on like, an input chip, increases the intelligence so that it is more likely to shoot down weapons, and different chips do different things. Just thinking out loud. This way it can still be random and the player thinks they have control too.

Well i wouldn't mind if it was something optional, or part of a ship's special feture like the artillery beam is on the Fed cruiser.

I'd prefer if they were
at least smart enough not to shoot your boarding party...

Perhaps an augment or special system on an engi drone ship of some sort that only uses drones?

It just isn't happening from the XML the developer has exposed to date. There's always a chance that the dev will expose more functionality (a la Amplitude and Endless Space) or someone will discover another way to mod the game.
