I routinely mute the game music and run a playlist of TNG and BSG soundtracks to replace, but it's not really fitting since I wouod have to switch song every time events changed. So, any way to mod some new musics directly into the game?

Add the songs to the audio/music directory, add file entries into sounds.xml, and then modify the tracklists in sector_data.xml.

That should work, I'd think. Not positive.

As an aside, could you delete your duplicate posting on this topic?

The only thing I would add is that each track has both a combat and exploration variant. This should be obvious once you look at sounds.xml, but just in case it didn't make sense.

Ah, looks like in the meantime a forum moderator noticed and fixed it. When I replied, there was a double-post, but it has apparently been taken care of, so don't worry about it. Let us know if your mod works!
