I was starting this amazing run with the stealth ship.

Found a boarding drone.

Found a Pile Beam.

Nice.

But then, in my 4th jump I find...

a Zoltan Cruiser, with Zoltan shields (duh!), a laser drone (agh!), and 2 double lasers... On top of that? He disables my engines to 1 power bar....... On the 4th jump.......

He burned my cloak, weapons, health and O2 before I could burn his shields. I took him down before I had to retreat my crew to repair the health, but without O2 in the ship, they didn't manage to get out and fix the O2, so everyone died...


Frustrating.

Early game for the stealth ships on normal tends to be like a sick game of rock paper scissors, in which paper beats rock, scissors beats rock and rock only beats a scarcely populated species of anemic lemmings. There are strategies, but a fair amount of the time, you can only sigh and watch the galactic fireworks display that is your ship exploding into small chunks that scatter the cosmos.

Take solace that it feels so good when you actually get past the third or fourth sector, that it almost makes up for the countless deaths it took to get there.
