[MOD] Arkwork Ideas

Hello, I'm kinda new to this but I'm a somewhat decent artist and would like to start creating my own ships. Does any who has done it already have any advice on what programs(MS Paint, Photoshop, etc.) to use and how to get the "pixilated" look the current ships have? I saw that Darkfrost has a Ship Editor to be released soon(looking forward to it, looks awesome) and thought i could maybe use that for the systems, doors, etc. Any advice is appreciated.

Ive asked around, and those who have designed their own ships use mainly photoshop and MSPaint.
I think the best way to get the pixel effect is to draw your ships with the pencil tool in photoshop.

I drew everything to scale - using a reference picture. I scaled the reference picture to be somewhat close to the final scale I wanted to have it. After that I traced the primary line-fills with the pencil tool (to get pixel fitting) - . After that I made it into a smartobject, and split it in half so I only had to detail half of the ship.

Thanks for the reply. Someone else suggested using paint.net and i will try that also. Will show what I have created sometime in the future.
