Adding purchasable artillery in CE seems awesome, but I did encounter a problem.

I had not added artillery to a ship ( I think ) and yet the option became available from a store.

My question is to do with how stores work. Did i simply forget i added artillery to the ship? Is it only available for purchase if the ship is capable of buying it in the first place?

No. Even if a ship is incapable of installing a system, it can still be purchased, and will basically be a waste of scrap.

You can tell if a system cannot be installed if when you hover over it, it looks like this (disregard the description), with no starting power and no power capacity


as opposed to this, with at least one power bar and more power capacity
