I think a lot of these events could be taken further with this game engine. Exploring randomly generated little stations. Maybe your ship could be in the PNP off to the right offering off site support.

tl;dr are there plans for added content in the future or is this it? I'm not talking about modding.

It would actually be really cool if they added some large ships / planets that you could beam onto and take out hostiles / destroy an objective. It would actually be pretty mod able as well I think.
