Difficulty naming - sheer genius!

FTL is, of course, seriously awesome and similarly we all want to beat it on Normal.

FTL is also pretty darned hard compared to most games these days and a very good thing that is too.

Now think about how your desire to beat "Normal" would be affected if the difficulty settings were called Normal & Nightmare instead of Easy & Normal. See my point? As,I said, sheer genius there, guys...

I support any measure to change the name of "easy". They should really be called Hard and Harder.

Except the point he's making (I think :P), is that there probably wouldn't be this discussion at all in any game that calls easy "normal" and normal "hard, and so on.

I rather liked it when games were doing that, and I dunno why they stopped. Since they have stopped however there have been more and more people complaining that "games are too easy" and condemning anyone who dares play below "normal" or even hard. Take Youtuber Jesse Cox for instance and his play through of Dead Space.There was a brief debacle when people thought he'd put the game on easy when it was in fact on medium. There were so many people screaming at him it was unbelievable.

I betcha any money that wouldn't have happened if easy was normal and normal was hard, etc etc.
