Is it a bug, or intended?

In any case, I'm extremely jealous. It's always the artificial lifeforms that get the cool stuff D:

Seen a few people post something like this but I have done well over 100 runs and never seen it myself. If it exists it's either a bug or extremely rare.

I've seen an AI ship with 4.5 shields, but never a full 5.

I can only assume that ships in a given sector are given roughly the same number of upgrades. But since AI ships don't need O2, Door Control, Medbays, or Crew Teleporters, the points that would have otherwise been used on that get spend on more weapons, drones, or shields instead. I always seem to encounter some pretty brutal AI's in the last sectors, this could be why.

Not sure if I prefer 5 shield ai ships or the 4 weapon ships I see all the time. I guess it would depend on my load out and if I was able to get past 5 shields.

Yeah - seen it in the sector 7 i think, needless to say without boarding it it would be almost impossible to beat shield.Or just spam insane amount of missiles.

I don't think this is a bug since the missiles have shield piercing 5 which would be redundant if the maximum level of shields was 4.

I've had a drone with 5 shields and 4 weapons in sector 8 once (yes same sector as the mothership). That was fun, barely survived.

As far as I know this is not a bug, but it is kind of rare. I don't want it to disappear.
