Getting a DRM free client after purchasing FTL on Steam

I have a question: is it possible to get a DRM free client after purchasing FTL on the Steam platform? Or do I have to buy another copy of the game?

Maybe you should ask Steam. They are capable of releasing DRM free games and it's strange that FTL is not one of them since it's DRM free on GOG.com and the FTL website.
It seems a waste of money to buy the game again since you already own it on Steam.

Steam won't help me in this case - I was so eager to play the game I forgot that my main PC runs linux and I won't be able to play it through Steam.
So I'll rephrase the question:
Is the anyway to get the linux client after buing the Steam version of the game?

Justin has stated that they intend to put FTL on Steam's upcoming Linux client. Here's his post.
