I'm having a lot of trouble unlocking this achievement. Are there any tips to unlocking this achievement? I swear I fulfilled the pre-requisites for this many times, but I never get completion of the achievement. Any help would be appreciated.

This is for the Stealth Cruiser

Bird of Prey - Destroy a ship at full health during a single cloak in the Stealth Cruiser

You have to completely kill a ship from full health to nothing within a single cloak. So if your weapons fire and your cloak goes down then you won't get it.

I haven't played much with the cloak yet, but my guess would be that you want:
1) Max cloak
2) The add-on that lets you charge & fire weapons while cloaked
3) The weapon pre-igniter (start an engagement with your weapons already fully charged)
4) A bunch of missile launchers (so you can ignore shields), or perhaps a bunch of burst lasers & anti-ship drones (?)
5) Find an automated ship (these, in my playthroughs so far, tend to be the weakest ships in early-to-middle sectors)

I think I just had cloak level 2 and a third weapon? Was lucky enough to find an unshielded drone with 6 health.

There's a super easy way to do this, which I figured out after getting really annoyed at it (I swear I've done it a few times now).

1) Play on Easy, immediately upgrade cloak with your 30 scrap.
2) Try to find an automated drone with no shields in sector 1. They have 5 HP.
3) Wait for weapons to charge.
4) Pause, engage stealth
5) Unpause, pause again immediately, target all weapons (mini beam needs to cross 3 centre rooms)

Done. It's annoying but fast.

I've done exactly this, but still don't have the achievement. What gives?

From what I gather you have to be cloaked when the fight ends so upgrading cloak is essential. When I got it I found that I only unlocked the achievement once the enemy ship had fully exploded and I was still cloaked otherwise it does not seem to count.

The only constraint is that you must be cloaked when the damage is dealt.

If you fire lasers (or anything with a flight time), and cloak before the shots hit - they'll be considered as hitting while cloaked.

Also, subsequent damage from fire is acceptable.


Consequently it can be achieved with stock equipment :

Fire laser
Engage cloak a split second before the bolts hit.
Then, immediately fire beam.
If that isn't enough, hope that fires take hold to finish the job.
