Modding impossible, driving me crazy.

Not sure if this belongs here, got it posted in the tech support section, feel free to delete this post if it shouldn't be in the mod section.

Last week i had the shit idea to have better looking backgrounds for that great game, but any mod i try to install using SMM don't work except for the two coming with the program (scrap advantage).

This doesn't work:

1.Go to SMM/backups, delete data.dat.bak and resource.dat.bak
2.
a.Steam users:
Steam -> Library -> right-click on FTL -> Properties -> Local Files -> Verify Integrity of Game Cache
b.DRM-free version users:
Reinstall FTL (remember to back up your profile!)
3.Launch SMM to create new backups

This is what i get trying to validate the mods after a clean install on FTL (steam) and SMM. All files deleted from drive, re-download and re-install both of programs.

What the hell is happening, it's supposed to be easy. Heavy modding of games like GTA4 and Skyrim was a piece of cake, this is driving me nuts.

Halp please.

FTL modding is not supported by the game's devs in any way, and all the tools have been created by the community, so it's bound to be a bit rough sometimes *shrug*

That said, to try and fix your problem...
Make sure that you actually have updated FTL to AE. The version string at the bottom-right corner of the main menu should read 1.5.10.
But I guess you're smart enough to have already done that. So we'll need something to go on...
Patch a problematic mod in, then exit SMM and find modman-log.txt in its directory, then post its contents here between [ code ][ /code ] tags. That way we'll be able to tell what the problem actually is.

I came across that one first, and this is what I posted there:
RAD-82 wrote:Have you actually tried hitting the patch button? As far as I can tell from your image, there isn't anything wrong. The validate button is sort of like an error checker that can be used by modders. It isn't required for mod users.
