Hi, love the game a lot. But I'm lost at what mod to try without messing up the game.
Are there any starter mods that people can recommend?
Thanks

The best mod out there, IMHO, is Captain's Edition (CE).
Enjoy!

My apologies, just...rather than wading thru all the forums I'd just put up a 'oi notice me! question!' heh. Thanks for the advice, I'll check out the Captains Edition - it doesn't mess with Steam? - I should really read up on it, but I'd rather hear from ppl. Got a link for the proper place?
*edit* oh gotcha I see the link above - I must get my eyesight checked.

My mods need some balance, and I have steam but nothing messes my thing up, just get Slipstream mod manager.

Descent into Darkness. Still the best ship mod.

I think that most of the registered users will have all the topics already checked out/marked read, so they'll easily notice that one new unread topic sticking out with a giant red tick

Either way, the distinction is mostly to keep things organised and easier for our only active moderator to take care of. Though I agree that we lack a dedicated general discussion subforum here.
By the way, you should check out the
master mod list if you're looking for a mod to play.
To be more specific...
- FTL Remastered is a cool UI mod to pretty up your game.
TaxiService, DryEagle and Lemmonade have all made pretty damn good ship mods, I'd recommend checking them out (click on the images in their signatures, or ctrl+F their name in the list)

Luckily, Steam has absolutely no issues with FTL modding whatsoever, so you don't have to worry about that
