Packing problem

Hi guys,

I'm new in mod's world and I have some beginner's problems. I started from THIS (https://docs.google.com/document/pub?id ... mzX32GB-Dw) tutorial and downloaded ftldat. After doing everything, I packed up the data files into data.dat and replaced the original in my resources Unfortunately, when I attempt to run FTL I get an error at the loading screen:

"
Assertion failed!

Program: ...
File: src/rapidxml/rapidxml.hpp
Line: 1383

There was some THREADS (http:/http://www.ftlgame.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=3528) about this problem on the forum, but I didn't understand the solution (I don't know what vanilla is). So I decided to try another packing tool - FTL-dat. And I got this:

Anyone help?

P.S.
I'm sorry for my english - this is not my native language and I'm still learning.

Hello and welcome to the forum, FireStorm! : ) I don't know what went wrong with your packing, but maybe i can recommend you an easier way to extract ftl's data. (and then mod it too!)

First of all, find a way to restore FTL. Use Steam to reset it, or reinstall it from where you got it, if you can.
Then download Slisptream Mod Manager. After you set it up, you can extract FTL's data from the File menu. (File > Extract Dats...)

After you have the Data, you can just make mods in .ftl format and make SMM append them to the game's data!

The .ftl format is just a renamed .zip file that contains some .xml documents that are appended to the game's original ones. (their extension is actually .xml.append, in fact)

I think your first link doesn't work. : \ (the tutorial) I don't know what kind of information was in there, but if you have any questions we will try to answer them!

Also your english is good, man! : ) I've seen many native speakers that would speak much worse than you, lol!

If you still have that problem after using Slipsteam and a .ftl file, I'll be glad to help out. Just link me the files (should you need to).

I already fixed first link, my fault.
I checked Slipstream Mod Manager and everything is working perfectly! Thank you very much for help. :) Now I can get back to study about mods.

@English Narwhal - I'm glad you wanted to help me out but I overcome difficulties. However, thank you :)
