Always check the map

Once upon a few hours ago, I was testing my own Y-Wing mod, a rather weak ship that was equipped with the shield-piercing Assault Cannon and the ionized Proton Torpedoes. Upon reaching sector 3, I followed a series of distress signals until running into this:

No way forward, no way back. After having a panic moment, I decided to invest all my scrap into engine power and storm through the Rebel Fleet. Punching my way through the Rebel Elites with the few weapons I had, I barely made it to the end of the sector alive
11 jumps later, out of ammo, low on fuel and with a hull that has the same integrity of a NASA Space Shuttle held together with duct tape and prit stick, I reached the Long Range FTL beacon. I was overjoyed! I'd escaped 10 jumps of rebel death and barely reached the end of the sector in a completely UP ship.

Oh...sweet irony.
I abandoned the run two jumps into the Rebel Sector. I was out of scrap, fuel and missiles and saw no point going ahead in such a weakened ship. Moral is, always check the map. ALWAYS check the map.
