Hiya,

I'm trying to install FTL through Steam in Linux (Elementary OS Luna, effectively Ubuntu 12.04LTS). When I hit 'Install game', it gives me the normal confirmation window, showing the disk space required (340MB), and the path to my Steam library (/home/greyloki/.local/share/Steam). I click 'Next', and 'Next' again, Steam then seems to sit at the 'Creating local game cache files' step for some time (several minutes), though this isn't a hang or freeze as I can stop this process at any point.

After a couple of minutes, I am presented with an error window saying 'An error occured while installing FTL: Faster Than Light (connection time out)'. It then gives a browser link to a non-existant Steam support page: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_art ... &l=english

This only seems to be an issue for FTL, I have installed Uplink, Hacker Evolution Duality, and TF2 with no trouble.

Where can I start in bugfixing this?

I have the exact same problem. Steam support said to come to this site to resolve the issue. It looks like I will be waiting for a reply same as you

+1. Other games are installing through Steam just fine.

I'll contact Steam about this, I don't know what could be happening. I don't know why they would send you to us, when it's their installer breaking

Can anyone experiencing this problem please email me (zasdarq@ftlgame.com) any Steam log files? They should be located somewhere within your Steam installation folder.

I'll drop the full logs over to you. Anyone know how to enable verbose logging if that's also needed?

Two minutes of "Failed to get AppOwnershipTicket from Steam" followed by "missing manifest."

I am also having the same issue. Other games install with no problems.

I'm still trying to get it sorted out. I'm very sorry about this.

In the mean time, I've also been informed that there's a potential work around for now. In Steam, at the top menu select View->Settings and then change the Download Region to New Zealand (or somewhere else).

Hopefully Valve will prove to be more helpful soon!
