Custom Hull

Hello, I just joined these forums, and I need some help.
I was thinking about making some custom ships, but I can't even figure out how to rotate hulls already in the game.
How do I create custom hulls?
What programs do I use?
BTW, I'm trying to use Superluminal
Thanks for any help you can give me

Hey, welcome to the forums!
Creating/modifying hulls is basically just editing images, so any graphical program will do, really, be it Paint, Gimp, or Photoshop... To create a completely custom hull, you either have to draw it from scratch, or modify existing images (via splitting, for example)
Rotating a hull already in the game is simply using a graphical editing program to rotate the image 90° clockwise/counter-clockwise (depending on what you're rotating)

Not to start a image editing program fight again (Gimp4evs) but don't use Paint. It has a terrible time with transparencies and lots in this game requires it.
But yeah Rotate is one of the easiest things to do in ANY image editor. Then just load that image as your hull in SuperLuminal.

Thanks, guys. This helps A LOT. I thought there was a way to rotate the graphic in program. I was wrong
BTW, 5thHorseman, you and DryEagle are my biggest influences and reasons I wanted to start making ships

Thank you!
Unless you mean... "because I knew I could do so much better"

If your taking ship parts from the existing game data, even powerpoint would suffice.
Just insert the wanted parts, rotate and resize as desired. Then group them, recolor and your done!
A simple 20 minute job of making ships.
For shield images, just resize any existing shield image.
For Cloak however, thats gonna tank some effort to make.

Humble paint is usefull for quickly reading coordinates for weapon mounts or gibs. It's also perfect for weapon or ship interior drawing, or editing "dirty" piexls leftover from shading or cropping. Being a very basic tool, it's also a bit faster and less cluttered.
It's chief drawback is that it does not support transparencies. It can not be used to finish images, but you can do a lot of work there before handing over to another app. Most of the drawing done for the Marauders mod was in Paint. Only effects and transparency were handled by another program.
Don't get me wrong, i don't wish to tout this or that, and there is plenty that annoys me in Paint, just saying. It has it's uses.

The Only thing I use paint for is rotating and Resizing because GIMP derps and screws those two functions up.

Hmm...
I think I'm gonna see if I can get ArtRage to make a proper stencil out of a ship image modified in Paint. That could allow me to create ship pictures - not that they'll be of high quality, seeing as my artistic skills are even less than would be required to draw a proper Kestrel model.
Edit: Nope. That's not gonna work.
And seeing as making stencils and then erasing anything that isn't in them is the only method I have of reliably and safely cleaning this stuff up...

Try out
FastStone. It's fantastic when rotating/resizing, and it can even maintain transparency (for example on those interior console glows). It's primarily an image viewer, but it can also quickly convert/resize or use basic filters.
I could not recommend it enough. BUT if you already have a favorite image viewer, you probably dont want another butting in.
