Is it possible to revert to 1.03.1? (Steam client)

Hi everybody,
I have played FTL vanilla a few months ago, managing to get to the end and having a lot of fun with it. These days I went back to playing it and decided to try out some of the many mods available for it. I was particularly interested in the Infinite Space one ( http://www.ftlgame.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=3542 ).
The problem is that the game crashes every time I try to start a new game (I use the Grognak's mod manager). Reading throught the forums, it appears that the problem is that my version of the game is the 1.03.3 (Fresh install on a clean Windows 7) ("clean" as in "formatted only a few weeks ago"
), and that downgrading to 1.03.1 would do the trick.
So my questions are:
1. How do I downgrade FTL to 1.03.1?
2. Playing it through Steam, how do I make it so it won't be upgraded automatically by Steam?
Thanks in advance for any help
