How to reset progress/achievements?

Hey guys,

So my friend came over and showed me FTL on my computer, he DLed it from steam to my comp. We played for a bit, I loved it, so I bought it. But even after deleting all the local game content via steam, and deleting the prof file under Documents > My Games > FTL, whenever I play the game I have all of his achievements and ships etc. I'm trying to find out how to delete all of this progress so I can start completely fresh. it seems like nothing has worked so far. I've uninstalled/reinstalled, cleared all files off, and deleted that prof file multiple times. I wonder if somehow Steam took his progress and put it on my cloud, so whenever I reinstall, that progress gets installed with it. No idea, pretty frustrated, searched everywhere. Let me know if you guys have any ideas, greatly appreciated.

The method here worked for me!

However, now I'm afraid that if I ever want to use the cloud again, i will lose my new data, and get the old one returned. Anybody know how this would work out?

Do you use your own Steam account, or the Steam account of your friend?

What you can do in all cases is make a backup of prof.sav (copy it in a separate directory). In case something goes wrong, you can put that file back in the FTL directory, overwriting the bad file.

greySky's link should get you sorted out!

@greySky: As boa13 suggested, backing up your profile is probably a good idea. What *should* happen though is Steam will detect a difference between a new local version and an out of date cloud version and ask you which one you'd prefer to use. Then you can just choose "Use Local Files"
