Crash on startup

Hi, I have just purchased the game on gog after having purchased it on steam because of a somewhat incorrect statement on the steam website that perhaps this problem was happening because of steam overlay however I am encountering the same problem.
When trying to start the game I just get a white window box that disappears after a second and then nothing.
I have checked the crash log and it states this:
Version = 1.03.1

Stack Trace:

1 - 0x707a5861 gslCfxExit
2 - 0x707a3f2c OpenAdapter
3 - 0x74c21daf GetD3DKMTProcAddress
4 - 0x047ad352 ShCompile
5 - 0x047a265c ShCompile

Obviously as I have purchased this game now twice (my own stupid fault I know) so I was wondering if anyone had an answer to this puzzle.
The game looks brilliant from what I have seen video wise and I am pulling my hair out trying to find an answer to my problem.
And yes I have updated my Graphics Card (a common answer I am sure).
Thanks in advance to anyone with an answer.

Hello, and welcome to the FTL forums!

You have told us quite precisely about the version of the game you use (1.03.1 as distributed by GoG), thanks for that. You have also tried updating you drivers, a good idea in such cases. :)

Can you tell us what operating system you are using (Windows 7? 32-bits or 64-bits?), what graphics card you have in your computer, and what driver version you have installed?

Hello. Sorry about the problem. Can you shoot me an email with a dxdiag dump for your system? My address is zasdarq@ftlgame.com

I thank you both for your prompt response, the requested detail should be with you now Matthew.
Boa just incase you are still interested, I am on Windows 7 64bit and my graphics card is an Intel HD Graphics (integrated and not ideal I know, but I know the game will run with it as others with the same seem not to have too many problems).
I just hope I can finally get to play this very impressive looking game otherwise I will just........ cry a lot and I don't think anybody wants that. :(

This sounds exactly like the issue I'm having. Any summary of the fix before I open my own "ticket" and send in logs?

@Aythem: He was able to solve the problem by updating his graphics drivers. In his case, it was necessary to uninstall the ones provided by his manufacturer (Toshiba) and install the most up to date found on Intel's website: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/default.aspx I'd be happy to help with installing updated drivers if you shoot me a dxdiag as well :) Sorry about the problem!
