I am using a MacBook Pro, 2.66GHz computer with Snow Leopard OSX. I I have tried to play the game four times now and it crashes about an hour in. How can I fix this? As it stands, the game is unplayable.

I had this problem on my Mac last couple of weeks also.
But it was due to the discrete graphics card overheating. Search the net for it. It happens with some MacBook models. And it don't just happen with FTL. Any game that puts the discrete in use overheats after a while and crashes the graphics.

According to Mac forums, it's due to bad glue. U could have had the Mac about 2-3 years like me.
I sent it for repair and it's working correctly now.

You should test it with other games that have heavy use of 3d to see if it also happens. If it also happens, you have a case of bad discrete graphics. Probably the glue like many others.

You can also download a graphics switcher for the Mac and force it to use the intel on chip graphics.

Also try enabling both V-Sync and the Frame Limiter within the FTL options screen. Though OSX normally manually forces V-Sync, it's worth a shot. The previous poster is likely correct and your graphics card over heating is to blame. Sorry about the problem!
