Please provide more details about your configuration
- What version of the game are you using (visible at the bottom right of the main menu screen)?
- Where did you get it from (Steam, GoG, FTL web site)?
- What operating system are you using (Windows, Mac, Linux)?
- Is the operating system 32-bits or 64-bits?
- What graphics card do you have?
- Have you made sure you have updated your graphics card drivers?
- Have you modded the game (now or in the past)?

Can you try reinstalling FTL to a new location? Your problem is that the Paused image is not being correctly updated in the most recent patch. The mod manager can mysteriously stick around and insist on restoring previous resource files even after you've uninstalled the mods. Installing FTL to a different folder has been the fastest solution I've seen for it, but since i did not create the mod manager myself I'm not sure what exactly the cause is.
